The Barakat Bundle
Barkat Bundle is a community-centred maternal and newborn care intervention that has evolved from a simple, context-driven product into a rigorously evaluated public health model. Dr. Minjan Patel has been associated with the initiative since 2015, when the Barakat Bundle concept was being developed in the Indian context through field experience, community feedback, and iterative learning. During its early years, AaKAS contributed through on-ground implementation and close engagement with communities, supporting the practical refinement of the intervention.
Over time, this sustained field involvement enabled AaKAS to be part of the Barkat Bundle’s transition from a promising innovation to a model suitable for a randomized controlled trial (RCT). AaKAS’s role has focused on implementation support, operational learning, and strengthening evidence generation, ensuring the intervention remained grounded in community realities while meeting the standards required for scientific evaluation.
